Malibeaux

Freelance Photographer and Photo Editor

They call me Malibeaux \ˈma-lə-bü\

I'm a dreamer, a passion hunter, a lover of nature and people. I have a long history of capturing these loves with photography. From an early age, I carried a camera with me on adventures and to events (through the years it's become more of a limb than a nuisance). Inspired by nature, I began exploring artistic photography and sold prints of my art at street fairs and small shops. I worked as a freelance photographer for an online magazine, photographing local events and accompanying photos for articles. While working with a wedding and event photographer, I expanded my art in photo editting. Since then, I have freelanced every possible event for family and friends. With over 4 years of training and experience in Adobe programs (Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign), as well as 10+ years of experience with Canon cameras and software, I am excited to be of service to clients who expect the very best. If you're curious, my wife gave me the nickname Malibeaux, pronouncing it like the rum and spelling it like my Louisiana last name. It stuck fast and sounds more familiar than my birth name these days.

Kupiga Picha

As passions go, I have quite a few. When in college, I lived in a southern village in Tanzania (East Africa) for a month as a studying Anthropologist. The Swahili that has stuck with me since then is very thin, but the phrase "Naweza kupiga picha?" has left a lasting reverberation in my memory. Can I take a picture? More precisely, the verb is hit or strike, rather than take, most likely because of the noise the shutter makes when you snap a photo. The sentiment always leaves me with the feeling that I never "took" anything from my subjects--the people or places--, but rather snapped a moment in time, a moment they created with their presence. This is what photography teaches me, that I can press the shutter and capture the essence of the moment without interfering with it in any way.

So I ask you: Naweza kupiga picha?

Finale Services in a nut shell

Finale post production photo editing services was born out of the vision of providing post-production services to independent and freelance photographers who are already swamped in events, photo sessions, and client meetings. Photographers know that sitting in Light Room for hours a day is not always your cup of tea. So, let me do your finishing touches for you. In the same vein, I want to provide quality detail edits to make your photos pop. Maybe you had a wonderful photographer for a portrait session, but you were hoping for some out-of-this-world scenery. Maybe your only sadness after your wedding was that your wedding pictures highlight an ungodly blemish or a well-pronounced double chin (as mine did). I'm here for you, too. I can fix most things that make you less likely to show your photos proudly. Maybe you were a victim of a flood or you found an old tattered photo of a great grandparent in the attic. I can provide photo restoration for minimally to moderately damaged photos.

Where in the world

I am located in two places for most of the year. I call both Portland, OR and New Orleans, LA my homes. For photo sessions, please contact me with a timeframe and location in mind, that way I can confirm I will be in town for your specified dates. For any Finale services, everything can be done online in a flash! Go to the "Request a Quote" tab and let me know what you'd like out of the job. For photo restoration, it would be preferable to meet in person in order to assess damages and scan the original photo. Make sure you send me details via the "Contact" tab.

I work for and support All genders, orientations, races, Skin colors, creeds, and pet owners.
